The New iPhone to Feature Eight-pin Dock, iOS 6 and Bluetooth 4.0 (Report)

As the time is closing by, we are hearing different rumors/confirmations regarding the upcoming iPhone, iPad and iOS version. We have heard a lot about the upcoming iPhone 5 in the series of rumors posted day by day. This time the rumors have taken a new turn pointing out some new tidbits from the upcoming Apple Gadgets. Previously we have seen several reports pointing out towards the re design of the New iPhone with a 4-inch screen and reallocated dock with headphone jack port. The rumors about the charging dock stated that Apple would be releasing a 19-inch pin dock for the iPad MINI and for the New iPhone 5.

The confirmation about the 19-pin dock connector was not done because we heard about a 16-pin dock connector was also in the works by Apple. Therefore, it was unclear which one they would use. Today, we came across new news from iLounge stating that the New iPhone would get an eight-pin dock connector instead of the 30-pin dock connector that is in use and against the 19-pin dock connector that was rumored before.

According to two sources, Apple’s new Dock Connector features only 8 pins, seemingly contradicting claims of “16-pin” and “19-pin” connectors. Although the original Dock Connector contained 30 pins, reports of 16- or 19-pin connectors seemed hard to square with the port’s small size and Apple’s actual need for additional pins beyond what USB/Micro-USB offer.

No images or parts for the connector have leaked out, either. Both of our sources concur that there are eight pins in a line within the new Dock Connector, which may well receive a different name going forward.

Another source of iLounge dings in to confirm about the design features that the New iPhone dock connector would be getting. The new connector will feature the ability to be connected with dock or cable in whichever orientation the user puts in without making the person to see for the front end before placing the iPhone into charge.

A source chimes in to confirm and explain the second detail: the male connector has 8 pins on each side, while the female connector has only 8 pins on one side. This enables the iPhone/iPod/iPad (with female port) to connect to either side of a male cable or docking plug.

The new connector will come in two versions that will be Male and Fe-Male. The Male version will feature an eight-pin on both sides, where as the Fe-Male version will only get an eight-pin connectivity on one side. This will make ease for the user to place their iDevices on charge in any orientation they want in cable or plug.

On the other hand, Apple is working on a secret feature in iOS 6 that hasn’t yet revealed in public or leaked yet.  The new feature is said to use the technology of Bluetooth 4.0 available in the latest iDevices to pair up with each other in a different way. The new Bluetooth 4.0 is available in iPhone 4S and iPad 3 till now and will be coming in future iDevices as well.

The new secret feature of iOS 6 is believed to function as a bridge between iDevices allowing one another to connect with each other easily and allowing making calls, see iMessages, and so forth. The feature of iMessages reading, voice recording, getting miss call alerts from iPhone to other iDevices are believed to come in iOS 6 and iPod Nano.

Our source also claimed that Apple is working on an as-yet-undisclosed iOS 6 feature that will act as a bridge between its Bluetooth 4-capable devices. The feature would enable, say, a future iPod nano to display iMessages received by an iPhone, record voice memos that could be shared via the iPhone, and even initiate phone calls through its own headphones. It could also conceivably let you make iPhone calls from your iPad (or possibly even recent Macs), assuming the iPhone was paired with the computer over Bluetooth.

The time is running out and the rumors are getting saucy day by day. We can only put out the rumors sauce on our crispy burger and eat it like a hungry man. This is the best that we can do so far.

Don’t forget that we have landed in the era of fall where the innovations begin in just few months and we have the iOS 6 in Beta 3. The Beta four of iOS 6 would be making its way some time this week or the next. The dates for the iPhone 5 launch are pillar firm. The date for the iPhone 5 launch is September 12, Friday. We are only a month away from the official launch of iPhone 5.
