  • Apple iPad Mini’s Worth $1.5M Lifted from JFK International Airport

Apple iPad Mini’s Worth $1.5M Lifted from JFK International Airport

The heist of the Apple products has drastically increased in preceding months. It all started back in May when we reported about the first iPad Robbery was done by a woman in different stores across the city in a very professional way. The iPad stolen accounted for $57,000. Then in September, the heists for Apple products increased by two robberies were made in different parts of the city. The first robbery took place in Temecula Apple Store, where smash and grab was done. The second robbery took place in Japan and the U.K Soon after the iPhone 5 was about to be set for sale. More than 400 Units of the iPhone 5 were stolen from both of the countries within the Apple Stores.

Later this past Monday, a huge iPad Mini heist was done at New Yorks JFK International Airport. The robbery was done by a pair of bold crooks who stole iPad Mini Worth $1.5 Million from the cargo building of 1978 Lufthansa. These well-coordinated crooks used the same machinery of the JFK Airport to load the iPad Mini’s pallets in the truck. The crooks were able to load two pallets of the iPad Mini in the truck leaving behind three pallets of the iPad Mini because of the airport worker who spotted them while he was returning from the dinner.

According to several sources, the crooks arrived at building 261 around 11:00pm in a white tractor-trailer branding CEVA on the side. The tractor-trailer was parked at the other side of the JFK International Airport where Security is low as compared to other side of the building where security is on the verge. The quantity of iPad Mini’s stolen from the JFK International Airport is 3,600. The iPad Mini’s belonged to a company called Cargo Airport Services, which claimed the fresh arrival of the iPad Mini’s from China were to be distributed in several different locations of the U.S.

  • Google Distributes Test Version of iOS Google Maps Landing Soon

Google Distributes Test Version of iOS Google Maps Landing Soon

The highly anticipated iOS Google Maps App has been released for external testing by Google to a specific group of testers. Soon after Apple planned to make its own Maps App in iOS 6 and screwed the Maps after release, the rumors started to emerge that Google is planning to come up with a stand-alone version of iOS Google Maps because Apple had ditched Google Maps to introduce its own Maps. The rumors that surfaced were not clear enough about the Google Maps App because some stated the Google Maps App is in works and some rumors were denying this fact by saying that Google has no plans for making an iOS Google Maps version.

To over come the confusion that rumors created, we told you about a way in which you can get default Google Maps on your iPhone, iPod or iPad the easy way. The way can be viewed over here. Now following the rumors like a religion, in the preceding month we reported about a breaking news that showed the appearance of iOS Google Maps spotted in the Alpha versionin leaked images. After seeing the images, it was assumed that Google Maps for iOS is in works and would be released soon. So later today, WSJ confirmed the news about the highly anticipated iOS Google Maps App by stating that the App has been rolled out to some external testers by Google to test the Google Maps on their iPhone.

Google has distributed a test version of its new mapping app that will work on Apple’s iPhones to some individuals outside the company, said a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

There is no specific E.T.A allotted by the source that told WSJ about the iOS Google Maps App testing has been started by Google externally.

    ios_google_maps

The launch for Google Maps for iOS seems to be imminent because Google is polishing the App before they submit it into the App Store for the review process. After the App is submitted into the App Store, then the ball will be in Apple’s Court to Approve the App or not. Apple may disapprove the App because of heavy competition with its own Maps App for iOS.

Other than Google, Nokia is also in the line for submitting its own Maps App for iOS that the company announced few days back with the name of “HERE.” The company is aiming to offer a Maps App based on HTML5 and will work in offline mode. Even the “HERE” Maps App will feature turn-by-turn navigation for iOS on iPhone’s. The company plans to release the App in the App Store.

We can now say that Apple has a tough competition to play in regards with the Maps. Apple has to beat Nokia and Google in order to make its own Maps App to be used more than of its competitors. The competition is tough and time is less.

  • Download Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 to Jailbreak iOS 6.0/6.0.1 Tethered (Link)

Download Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 to Jailbreak iOS 6.0/6.0.1 Tethered (Link)

After the release of Baseband Preservation in Redsn0w, about every one of the Jailbreak users for got the tool that they used to use when there was no Redsn0w Baseband Preservation method. The same tool for which every one used to wait for it to get updated with the latest iOS support in order to update their iPhone with Baseband Preservation Method. The tool is called Sn0wbreeze. The same tool that was once popular among windows users was updated to support iOS 6.0/6.01 with the Tethered Jailbreak support and Baseband Preservation mode.

iH8sn0w the developer of Sn0wbreeze recently updated the Jailbreaking tool to version 2.9.7 to support the Tethered Jailbreak of iOS 6.0/6.0.1 on all A4 and old devices. This update of Sn0wbreeze doesn’t include any new exploit or Jailbreak for newer Devices. Like always, the support for the iPhone 4, iPod 4, and iPhone 3GS has been made for iOS 6.0/6.0.1. As usual, the iPhone 3GS using Old Bootrom is Untethered for life. Therefore, people having an iPhone 3GS with an Old Bootrom can get Untethered Jailbreak instantly by using this version of Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7, where as new bootrom users have to wait until a firm exploit isn’t found to Jailbreak Untethered iOS 6.0/6.0.1.

    download_sn0wbreeze_2_9_7

A part from this Tethered Jailbreak, the news regarding the Untethered Jailbreak is that P0sixninja, the Ex-Member of the Chronic Dev-Team is actively working on to find some bootrom level exploit for A5, A5X, A6, and A6X Chips. On the other hand, Apple is planning to release another iOS 6 update of iOS 6.1 that is in its beta stages as of now. Last month Apple released iOS 6.0.1 and soon after the public release of iOS 6.0.1, Apple released iOS 6.1 Beta 1 for Developers. Following the iOS 6.1 Beta 1 release in the preceding month, recently Apple released iOS 6.1 Beta 2 update.

Therefore, we shouldn’t expect any Untethered Jailbreak coming real soon because Apple is planning to release iOS 6.1 that is almost around the corner. Like always, if the Untethered Jailbreak were released before iOS 6.1 goes public, then it would be patched in iOS 6.1 by Apple. Then again, we would have to wait for ages to get an Untethered Jailbreak. It is better to have some patience for the Untethered Jailbreak rather than panicking or asking from the Jailbreak Dev’s about an E.T.A.

In the meantime, you can download Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 (Windows Only) from here to Jailbreak Tethered on iOS 6.0/6.0.1.

  • Storing Passwords on Galaxy S3 is a Very Big Risk than You Think

Storing Passwords on Galaxy S3 is a Very Big Risk than You Think

In this advanced era of technology, we are excessively much dependent on the emerging smart phone technology. For our ease, we store our confidential data on the same smart phones that we use in our daily life’s. The confidential data can include your passwords, bank details, personal details, and much more. We store these things in the smart phone because we think that we are more secure than keeping or writing these details somewhere. If you think that you your data is secure in the expensive smart phone that you bought, think once again.

Recently, the market leader of Android Phones, Samsung Galaxy S3 was storing your passwords on a plain text file. This behavior was not done by any other App in Galaxy S3 than its own S-Memo App. It has been discovered that Galaxy S3 S-Memo built App has been storing your confidential data as a plain text in its SQL Database. This means, any one knowing the location of the file storage can easily get the hold of your confidential data and read it without any hustle or technical skills.

This issue is limited to those who have rooted their Samsung Galaxy S3 as noted by XDA Developers. When you root your Android Device, first you are voiding the warranty, second you are giving an open invitation to different kinds of Vulnerabilities to come and enjoy the confidential fun of yours. We mentioned earlier that the access to S-Memo Database is done only after rooting. Those of you are not rooted on Samsung Galaxy S3 are somewhat on the safe side.

    galaxy_s3_s_memo_vulnerability

How to Check if you are infected or not on Samsung Galaxy S3 S-Memo (Rooted Users only)

We don’t recommend you to root your Samsung Galaxy S3 because people without rooted Galaxy S3 are on safe side.

To check you need to be rooted and have SQLite editor installed.

    Steps to check
    1. Set up S-Memo to sync with your Google account
    2. Use SQLite editor and navigate to /data/data/com.sec.android.provider.smemo/databases
    3. Open the Pen_memo.db file and select the CommonSettings table. Look to see if your Google account info is stored in plain text.

However, the number of people affected by this vulnerability is relatively small and the issue has been captured at the initial stage. It is highly expected that Samsung will fix this issue as soon as possible because as the issue gets wider, it will give more opportunities to hackers to work out on this security hole and they can grab vast amount of information in not time.
